Improving Your Quality of Life
--
The title is bold, I know, but I really think I’m onto something. I’m sure that you’ve all been told that confidence is an attitude not a look. I have taken this ideology and expanded it into improving your quality of life. This is such a personal feeling and it is all about how you feel on the inside, not how much money you make or how popular you are. Your quality of life depends on how willing you are to see it. Now that was deep.
I woke up today and I did my morning routine. I made my bed and then put my fancy robe on with my cute slippers and went upstairs to wash my face and what not. I have been using really good quality face products recently and decided to do a full on spa for my face. I then drank about a liter of water and continued on with my routine. I then brushed my teeth for two full minutes. If you want to feel accomplished first thing in the morning, brush your teeth for two full minutes. Put on a song that you love and brush those damn teeth. I walked out of my bathroom feeling so accomplished already. You might be rolling your eyes wondering how any of those things could possibly contribute to your happiness.
Like I mentioned in my last story, when I feel anxious I like to do something that I can have control over. Having a routine that is the same every time gives me so much peace of mind that even if everything goes wrong that day, at least I knew one thing for sure. If you aren’t an anxious person, you can still benefit from this. Taking care of yourself is one of the most rewarding feelings. I used to make myself a homemade juice every morning and it did not taste very good but it did wonders for my energy and for my gut health. I need to get back into starting my day this way because I felt amazing. The key to feeling good isn’t simply “eating healthy”, it’s listening to what your body needs. My body was telling me that it was exhausted and coffee wasn’t helping. It needed more vitamins and nutrients that I hadn’t been making a priority.
I did laundry today as well. I folded things all the same way and I hung things in the same direction. When I open my closet door to pick out something to wear, I see options instead of a mess. This helps on the days when I am feeling unmotivated. I still wore one of my usual outfits, but I wasn’t going to beat myself up for this. I really don’t like change and this is something that I need to work on. I’m just not quite there yet and that’s okay. I am conquering one fear at a time. Still haven’t conquered spiders either…
I started getting acne in grade four, and have been trying to get rid of it for since. I have been told that it isn’t very noticeable or that I am beautiful regardless. Thank you so much to anyone who has told me this, but trust me, I have grown to not care about what others think of my appearance. This is a personal struggle that I would love to overcome. Some journeys are personal and it is important to do things for your own happiness rather than just trying to fit in. Ever since I started doing things for myself, I have felt so much more accomplished. You will never please everybody so why do anything for anyone but yourself? Improving your happiness is about pleasing only you. I could workout every single day and post ab photos, but that isn’t a goal that I have right now. I am focused on my internal beauty. I am actively taking vitamins and nourishing my body with what it asks for. I am giving myself good skincare and am checking in on my mental health.
Everyone has different goals and priorities which is why it is so important to remember to never compare where we are in life with where someone else is. The next time you find you are being hard on yourself, ask yourself if it is because you are comparing yourself to someone who is at a completely different place in life than you. If so, stop because it is completely irrelevant where someone else is. Think of your goals and why you want them. Know your worth and don’t allow anyone to treat you less than you are worth. I feel so passionately about bettering myself and it has helped me power through some really hard times throughout my life so far. I will work hard to keep this quality as I move forward in life, and I hope that you do the same. Thank you so much for reading.
